Davie’s capabilities as a fully-integrated shipbuilder means that it can offer a wide range of services for repair and refitting such as carpentry, electrical systems installation and so on. Quebec’s maritime hub also provides an extensive, qualified network of subcontractors making Davie ideally suited for cruise ship repairs where the need for speed and quality is of the essence.
Davie is a leading contractor to the Royal Canadian Navy and the Canadian Coast Guard, as well as foreign navies. Davie has been involved in nine Canadian Navy and a number of Coast Guard programs involving the construction, upgrading and in-service support of a variety of classes including destroyers, minesweepers, corvettes, frigates, auxiliary vessels and icebreakers. Davie is also a contractor to American shipyards involved with surface combatant newbuild programs.
Newbuilding
Davie is a naval centre of excellence and is committed to develop and manufacture fully missionized vessels for major navies. Together with our partners, Davie is able to design, build and integrate complex surface vessels for a variety of duties ranging from surveillance to combat. Our global offer provides a turnkey solution for navies, which goes beyond construction and stretches to through-life support, fleet maintenance and more.
In-service and lifecycle services
From structural integrity to the modernisation of combat and warfare navigation systems, regular maintenance and upgrades are key to the efficient and safe operations of all naval vessels. Through its vast experience in naval construction, systems integration and management of sub-contractors, Davie provides first-class throughlife services.
Warfare navigation and auxiliary systems
Leveraging Davie’s superior workmanship, we design and manufacture complex components for surface combatants to support our in-house newbuild constructions as well as for third-party shipbuilders. Components manufactured by Davie range from sonar domes for destroyers to aluminum elevators for aircraft carriers.
Davie has been serving the offshore industry since 1969 and has been involved with numerous construction, fabrication and upgrade projects involving most asset-classes involved in both shallow and deep-water exploration and production. Davie’s present build program involves five large dynamically positioned, highly-specified vessels for the oilfield services market.
Since entering the offshore market over 40 years ago, Davie has proved itself in a number of large EPCI contracts where it has demonstrated its capabilities to manage large-scale, multi-faceted projects involving a variety of asset-classes from fixed to floating drilling and production platforms, oilfield services vessel constructions and conversions and more.
Davie has over 50 years of experience in design, engineering and fabrication of components for the power sector. Having been involved with the majority of Canada’s hydro-electric power generation projects as a provider of large-scale components, Davie went on to provide mission-critical equipment for Canada’s CANDU program.
Davie’s convenient location coupled with its high capacity fabrication capability ensures we can deliver on time and provide logistical ease of access for materials entering and leaving the facility.
The transportation industry requires both large scale commissioned and commoditised systems. Davie’s expertise in the manufacture of pressure vessels for the petro-chemical industry led to the development of other forms of pressurised materials handling, namely tankcars for Canada and America’s expansive rail networks.
Davie’s Upper Steel Yard located to the North of the facility is dedicated to the construction of products for the rail sector. Davie provides a range of railcars for the transportation sector including tank cars, hopper cars and specially commissioned designs for heavy cargoes.
Davie has met the needs of its partners extracting, processing and transporting natural resources for over 100 years. Similar to other industries where Davie plays a key role, the handling of natural resources in bulk requires large-scale, innovative components.
Davie’s involvement in the natural resources sector spans from silo construction to the fabrication and erection of warehouses for bulk storage and processing.
Davie’s versatility has always been demonstrated through its civil engineering feats where it has throughout its history played a particular role in the development of civil infrastructure from bridges to olympic stadiums for Canada and the United States. With ever increasing infrastructure projects in Eastern Canada, Davie is actively involved with supporting its clients across a range of industries through engineered solutions.
